Arnalaya Beach House is a 5-bedroom masterpiece of contemporary beachside design set in tropical gardens with a private tennis court, gym and spa that entwine to create the ultimate destination for beachside living in Canggu.
Arnalaya Beach House was born out of a creative collaboration between internationally renowned Singapore architect Sonny Chan and Australian-born interior designer Albano Daminato. The artistic and progressive-thinking duo wanted to create a space that was contemporary and chic, yet fully functional, comfortable and fitting with the natural environment, and they achieved exactly that. Throughout the property you will find clean, minimalist lines, natural materials like bamboo wall panels and stone, and eye-catching textiles in traditional Indonesian patterns. Every piece of furniture and lighting was handcrafted in the Daminato Studio and designed specifically for the villa, and each room was tastefully decorated to provide understated elegance that doesn’t detract from the natural scenery of the grounds and ocean as viewed from the huge picture windows.

Arnalaya means ‘rhythm of the waves’ in Sanskrit, which is a pretty apt description of the barefoot luxe lifestyle at Arnalaya Beach House. This modern 5-bedroom villa kisses the sands of Nelayan Beach in Canggu, so each day is filled with the sounds of waves crashing softly on shore and the sights of colourful fishing boats bobbing by. Perfect for families or groups, Arnalaya Beach House has everything you need for the perfect holiday in Bali including a 20-metre salt water pool, private tennis court, spa, gym, al fresco dining areas and ample space to frolic outside in the lush gardens and on landscaped lawns.
Climb the angular staircase of the main pavilion at Arnalaya Beach House and you will reach the spacious lounge and dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean and courtyard. The lounge features plush white sofas, handcrafted tribal tables and an antique batik wall hanging, while the dining room has a handsome teak table that can seat up to 14 people, as well as wooden side tables with mood-setting hurricane lamps.
The entertainment room is located in the second pavilion, and this is where kids young and old can catch the latest movies and TV series on Apple TV, Netflix and HBO, play games on the Nintendo Wii, or peruse the bookshelves for good reads. Guests can also indulge in soothing holistic treatments at the spa or get in an invigorating workout at gym, both located in a separate single-storey building on the property.
Although each bedroom at Arnalaya Beach House is of similar size, the two Ocean Suites on the upper level of the main building could be considered the Master Suites for the incredible views they offer. Each of these suites has massive windows overlooking the Indian Ocean, balconies for taking in the sea breezes, canopied four-poster beds, sitting areas with sofas and desks, sleek display units discreetly housing Bose stereo systems and TVs, walk-in wardrobes and gorgeous ensuite bathrooms with stand-alone bathtubs facing windows looking out to sea.
The remaining three guest rooms are located in the second pavilion, with two bedrooms on the upper level offering sea views, and another bedroom on the ground level that opens to a lovely garden and provides direct access to the gym and spa. Each of these bedrooms has canopied beds that can be configured into twin or king formations, lounge areas with desks (except for the ground floor room, which has a pull-down single bed instead of a desk), and terrazzo bathrooms with stand-alone oval tubs and showers. The gym can also be converted into an extra bedroom, and there is a small bedroom with bunk beds on the ground floor of the main building, which is suitable for a nanny or extra staff member.
Sprawled out over 4,500 square metres of space, Arnalaya Beach house has plenty of room for guests to get outside and enjoy Bali’s beautiful tropical climate. The villa is surrounded by exotic gardens and emerald green lawns, some of which have been terraced to emulate Bali’s famous rice terraces. In front of the villa, facing the sea, there is a vast 20-metre saltwater pool for cooling off on hot days. Also facing the ocean is a breezy bale with a timber dining table that can seat up to 14 people, a cocktail bar, and a fully functioning kitchen with a built-in barbecue and induction cooker.
Price from USD$2,800++ per night.
Arnalaya Beach House enjoys an enviable location along the sands of unspoiled Nelayan Beach in Canggu. Walk less than 10 minutes along the ocean’s edge and you will reach Echo Beach, which is famous for its surf breaks and delectable BBQ seafood restaurant. Also in Canggu just a short drive away is Batu Bolong Beach with the famous Old Man’s bar and live music hotspot The Lawn. Should you want a little more shopping, dining and nightlife action, Seminyak is just 20 minutes south by car, and to the north there are incredible beaches and the famous Tanah Lot Temple.
